In the 'making of' documentary, Helen Mirren relates that she was more nervous about this role than all her other roles in her career. (Really, more nervous than during her many au natural scenes?) She calmed herself by thinking that she was in a sense a portrait painter, i.e. like a painter, he/she can capture the appearance & some emotion of the subject, but will inevitably add interpretation. The director, Stephen Frears, deserves praise for making an excellent film, but I was dismayed to see how slovenly he appears an interview -- unkempt and unshaven. A modicum of respectable appearance is not too much to expect in my opinion. Still, I highly recommend this disc.- Mood:
