Not much happening for me today. I mowed the entire lawn just to relieve boredom.

Happy Independence Day.

Celebrating the 4th of July

Silly Walks
Julie and I watched the Boston fireworks show from Memorial Drive in Cambridge. The displays were spectacular, but, man, did we do alot of walking.

We started the evening with a fine dinner at
Christopher's Restaurant & Bar
. Then we proceeded to walk to the Charles River through Harvard Square. We sat on a bench by the river and watched/listened to the Pops concert on my portable TV. We then walked further to downriver to get a better view of the fireworks show. We stopped in front of the Hyatt and watched from there. The street further on was packed with humanity.

Along with the more traditional explosions, some explosions formed cubes while others were globes with rings. How these effects were created I know not.

After the show we took an alternate route, Brookline Ave to Mass Ave, to get to the Red Line subway stop at Central Square. This route was longer than we had anticipated. We made it to the station, but waited interminably for a train. In the meantime, the station became crowded, and the train, when it finally arrived, was also packed. At Julie's insistence, which I readily agreed to, we retreated from the T station and walked the rest of the way on Mass Ave (with two rest breaks) back to her house. The show ended at 11PM; we reached her house at 12:30AM. The cold cranberry juice she offered me was so good.

Overall, we must have walked at least ten miles. My feet and legs are still recovering. It's a good thing that I walk during my lunch hour or I'd be hurting even more.
