I have been in contact with Julie today. Without going into details, I will simply state that our relationship is over.

It is Memorial Day weekend and I have no social plans. Julie has been away for a month and will continue to be for another week. I miss her deeply.

My parents and I visited the garden at the Stevens-Coolidge Place in North Andover today. It has been several years since we've visited and I think it was our best visit yet. The setting and the weather were beautiful. One family even brought their pet rabbit, so that was an extra treat.
Their was a tinge of melancholia within me though. It was the fact that Julie was not with me to share the experience. She is still on assignment in Florida and will be there through May.

Julie and I had lunch at Café d'Algiers. We had a fine time catching up with each other's lives. She is very happy to be home. My welcome home gifts to her were appreciated.

A package from Julie arrived today. It contained an Afghan hat and a stone turtle ornament. I have written to Julie to thank her and tell her how thoughtful she is.
Her parents have flown in from Dayton OH to visit her and she'll be on vacation with them for two weeks. She and I look forward to seeing each other afterward.

I heard from Julie today. She is fine, but her job still sucks. She said, "My boss is a complete moron and an unrealistic mean old man."

I e-mailed to Julie a video clip of Gracie to cheer her up. She replied that she enjoyed it. However, she also said that she has sprained her ankle and will be on crutches for a couple of days.

Julie e-mailed me yesterday to thank me for the pineapple macadamia nut fruitcake that I ordered for her. She was very pleased. She said that she would save it for Christmas to share with her colleagues. On the downside, she said that work sucks. Her boss is martinet who makes everyone miserable. She's counting the days, but is resolved not to let the misery get her down. I am sure she will get through it because she has great resilience.
As for myself, I'm putting in overtime this week.

Today, I baked chocolate chips cookies for Julie. They came out pretty good. I hope she likes them.
She e-mailed yesterday. She said that she liked the photos I had e-mailed to her, and that I should keep photos coming.

I heard from Julie yesterday and today. She works six days a week for at least twelve hours, and is presently recovering from a local 'bug'. She mentioned that the compound has cats that help keep the mice population down. She thanked me for my e-mails, said she liked hearing from me, and will try to be more responsive.

Two days ago, I received an e-mail from Julie. She said that it took her a week to arrive and that she got sick immediately afterward. But she is much better now, and has settled into a work routine with good people. She provided photos of her living quarters which look quite nice.

Last night Julie and I had dinner and saw a movie. The restaurant was Elephant Walk; it serves French and Cambodian cuisine. I chose one of the French entrees. The movie we saw was Body of Lies with Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe. It was exciting though a bit confusing.
Julie was in good spirits and she looked very well. We had good conversations through the evening.
She departs for her overseas assignment tomorrow and be gone for six months. I will miss her.

I spoke to Julie today. She is home for a few days, but has a mountain of things to do before she deploys. She sounded cheerful though. We will see each other on Sunday evening.
